Chris Hopson, Geschäftsführer von NHS Providers, sagte, er gehe davon aus, dass Covid-19-Impfstoffe in den kommenden Jahren Teil des Alltagslebens werden.
Er sagte: „Wir werden diese Impfungen wahrscheinlich jährlich durchführen müssen, ich weiß nicht, mindestens fünf, sechs, sieben, acht, neun, zehn Jahre lang.“
Gesundheitsexperten forderten die Regierung auf, dem NHS Zeit zu geben, ein Auffrischungsprogramm für die Covid-19-Impfstoffe vorzubereiten.
Darüber hinaus äußerte der stellvertretende Vorsitzende des Gemeinsamen Ausschusses für Impfung und Immunisierung die Befürchtung, dass die Grippe in diesem Winter ein „größeres Problem“ als Covid darstellen könnte.
Die britische Regierung ist besorgt, ob die Einführung der Covid-19- und Grippeimpfstoffe gleichzeitig erfolgen kann und ob es zu Wechselwirkungen zwischen den beiden Impfstoffen kommt.
Matt Hancock, Gesundheitsminister der Regierung, sagte, dass derzeit Versuche zur gleichzeitigen Verabreichung von Grippe- und Covid-Impfstoffen im Gange seien.
Hancock sagte gegenüber BBC News: „Wenn wir die Ergebnisse dieser Studie (über das Mischen von Impfungen) kennen, werden wir im Herbst die vollständigen Pläne für das Auffrischungsprogramm vorlegen.“
Während die Regierung auf Auffrischungsimpfungen und eine Impfung im gesamten Vereinigten Königreich drängt, scheinen die „Durchbruchsfälle“ von Covid weltweit zuzunehmen.
In Indonesien, über 350 Ärzte und medizinisches Personal wurden trotz vollständiger Impfung positiv auf Covid-19 getestet, was zeigt, dass der Impfstoff bei der Immunisierung gegen das Virus völlig unwirksam ist.
Wenn diese „Durchbruchsfälle“ zunehmen, welchen Sinn hat es dann, eine Auffrischungsimpfung mit einem experimentellen Impfstoff zu erhalten, der nicht nur unwirksam ist, sondern verursachte unzählige schwere Nebenwirkungen, darunter Blutgerinnsel und Lähmungen.
